Superstitions

Everyone has superstitions that they believe in from opening umbrella’s inside to walking under ladders and black cats crossing their path. The only one I really have is the opening umbrella’s inside. I cringe when I see someone doing that or if I find one laying around on the floor at work in the kids department. {I work in retail, lol} Superstitions are commonly associated with the beliefs of good and bad luck, as well as the predictions of the future.

Here are some common superstitions everyone has heard of…

* Friday 13th : This is supposed to be an unlucky day. There are some who refuse to leave the house on this day and most places don’t acknowledge a 13th floor or room. ** Personally I have always had wonderful luck on Friday 13th’s. **

* Rabbits Feet bring good luck? In many cultures rabbits were considered to be associated with prosperity and good luck so therefore keeping one of it’s feet was also considered to bring good luck.

* An apple a day keeps the doctor away : These tasty treats contain Vitamin C. They also aid the immune system, and reduce tooth decay by cleaning one’s teeth and killing off the bacteria that has built up on your teeth.

* To find a four-leaf clover is to find good luck : The four leaves on the clover represent faith, love, hope and luck. The clover was also used to ward off evil.

* If a black cat crosses your path you will have bad luck : Egyptians once considered cats to be sacred. Depending on the countries will depend on the superstition. ** I have a black cat and have never had any sort of bad luck while owning one.**

** If you walk under a ladder, you will have bad luck : I’m not really superstitious about this one. I just prefer not to walk under them because one can get hurt by doing so. **

The Grays and the Hills

I was in a chat room a while back. The main topic was on how aliens move among us disguised as normal human beings. They say that we normal humans can’t tell that they are here, but those who have been abducted can tell.

I find this concept fascinating and would love to meet one if that is true.. though not in an abduction sort of way. I am a firm believer that they are real, but I am also a scared skeptic because I don’t want to be taken. I’m a “Gotta see it to believe it” when it comes to aliens mingling among us here on Earth.

Aliens known as The Grays are reported as being able to pass through the walls and through windows that are closed as well. There are some folks in the alien world who believe that the Grays are responsible for a majority of the alien abductions that have taken place around the world.

The Grays also have the ability to play with the emotions of humans. It’s said that they know the thoughts and have the ability to pick out the emotions of the human’s that they have abducted. There is a famous abduction case from 1958 of Betty and Barney Hill were rumored to have been abducted by the Grays.

Betty and Barney Hill resided in New Hampshire, in September 1958 they are abducted by Aliens as they were returning home from a vacation. Betty worked as a social worker and Barney was a postal worker, they were also an interracial couple, he was African American and she was Caucasian.

They were missing quite a bit of time and had no memory of what happened to them during that missing time. It was through hypnosis of the couple that their Psychiatrist has stated that he thinks the whole thing came up because of Betty’s dreams of Aliens and UFO’s. There are many who don’t believe that they were abducted at all and have accused them of making things up.

Their family however stand by what the Hills have said and are supporting them despite the fact that both have long since passed on. Barney Hill had died of a brain hemorage on Feb 25,1969 at 46 years old, while Betty passed away of cancer at 85 years old on Oct 17, 2004.

There was a television series in 1996 that is based on their experiences called “Dark Skies”, Barney is portrayed by James Earl Jones and Betty is portrayed by Estelle Parsons.

Fears

Everyone has fears that tend to consume them at a time or two. I have a few of them.. sharks, alligators, crocodiles and snakes... those 4 make me cringe.

I also have another and that's the thought of being abducted by aliens. As far as I know I have never been abducted, but hey you never know really.

Those are my physical fears. That means that they can physically hurt me. They can physically kill me! Eekk!

I do have an emotional fear as well and that fear is being abandoned. I'm not sure why I have this fear, I suspect it stems from a past life, but it's very real.

I may have fears, but I refuse to allow them to run my life as they did in the past.
What about you, what are your fears?

Are you a paranormal SLIder?

What is SLI?

There is a term in the paranormal world called Street Light Interference or SLI for short. SLI is a phenomenon where a person can unwillingly turn on and off street lights simply by passing underneath  or by them. A SLIder is someone who has had this happen to them.

My Paranormal Experiences

Many years ago when I worked in daycare I was walking to work every day, Monday through Friday. I would leave around 7am and walk past a hotel next to the gas station.

This daycare had a lot of paranormal activity that took place daily. From shadow’s moving around to noises and water turning on by itself.
There is one light there that was constantly going off when I passed underneath it.

This happened every morning when I passed under it if it was lit up. If it was off and I went under it then it would flicker and eventually turn on.

There was a hotel next to the daycare that had another light that reacted to myself walking under it. When I walked under it, usually at 5:45am if I had to open the daycare, the light would turn off, but during the day when I passed by it on the way home it stayed off.

Because these were happening first thing at night it ended up with me carrying pepper spray because when that light went off at the hotel next to the daycare it was pitch black.

My Observations

I decided to take a look at when this happened to me and kept track of my mood and what not. I wasn’t sure if it was paranormal or just a coincidence. I noticed that it would happen to me when I was really tired  or if I was upset about something. Funny enough I don’t recall it ever happening when I wasn’t feeling good or sick. Also it never happened to me during the winter, well not that I noticed at the time.

I don’t pass under very many street light’s these days, but I have drained batteries at work in the matter of half an hour and I have walked under newly placed light bulbs only to have them flicker and turn off only to turn back on a few minutes later.

Automatic Writing

I am a big fan of Automatic Writing, but will confess that I have been slacking off with it for quite a while. This is a form of divination where messages seem to come out of nowhere and through your own hand and onto the paper in front of you. Some writer’s have written poems, songs and full length novels.

How do you do Automatic Writing?

This method of divination is pretty easy to do if you have the patience to sit down and give this a try. You merely sit with a pen and piece of paper and wait for messages to come. Relax and clear your mind, if you can sit and clear your mind for a bit then you can do this. Loosen your wrist by twisting it around a few times and then very lightly lay the tip of your pen onto the paper.

When I do it, I sit with my mind clear and I preoccupy myself by watching tv or reading a book. Another thing I do is shield myself by visualizing myself in a glowing ball of light. I use white and purple. I start my writing session’s off by asking if my Guides have a message for me. That’s when my guide Owen comes through.

Soon you’ll discover your hand moving on it’s own. There is one very important thing you need to do while doing auto writing and that is to try not to intentionally write something on your own.

Just go with the flow and let your hand write whatever it’s going to write. Some will write using their non dominate hand or the hand they don’t write with. If you can do auto writing using that hand and actually write words that are understandable with it then you know your auto writing.

When your done sit back and start reading what you wrote. You might find that you made a bunch of dribble and scribbles. There are times when I did it to where I would write a lot of the sideways 8 infinity signs. Look your writing over and try to decipher it the best you can. In the end, it might not make sense to anyone, but yourself.

The Dead Files on Netflix

I have been watching The Dead Files on Netflix for a while now. The show is on the Travel Channel and I'm on Season 2 of the 3 seasons at the moment. The show is ok, but I do have a few issues with it.

Amy Adams is a psychic medium who goes into a building with a camera crew and does the walk through at night with her assistant Matt who is holding a video camera and asking random questions at time. During the day a former NYPD detective Steve DiSchiavi speaks with the person who called them and does research on the location.

My issue is that Amy goes in to help the people by telling them who is haunting that location, but she leaves them to deal with the clean up on their own. She even tells them to call a psychic medium to help them at times depending on the haunting.  Very rarely does she stay to help them deal with the aftermath of her visit. You have to know that by her even going to that location, those spirits will be riled up in the worst way.  She should be staying and helping them deal with those spirits instead of calling in mediums when she could very easily do that herself!

Otherwise the show is a fairly good one. What do you think about it?

My Mansfield Reformatory Paranormal Investigation

Many years ago I went on my very first paranormal investigation with one of the local paranormal groups.

We drove to Mansfield, Ohio to go on one of their night hunts of the Mansfield Reformatory. As soon as you pull onto the grounds through the front gates you can feel the spirit energy that still lingers on the grounds.

One of the lead investigators of the now long gone group WNY Paranormal and I went on a ghost walk through the prison during the evening with the lights on in the prison. Sarah had been there before, while this was my first time.

There is absolutely no running water in the building. During the filming of Shawshank Redemption, the crew had to pull fire trucks onto the lawn and push water into the shower heads through a hose.

The week before I was there the Ghost Hunter’s were there filming an episode of TAPS. Our tour guide made a strong point of telling us that the TAPS crew read from scripts, which I’m sure everyone knew the show is scripted.

Once the lights went out it was a bit weird for me seeing as how I was in a haunted prison in the pitch black darkness. We began to hear faint screams and see shadows moving in the well.. darkness! In the shower room we sat on the side watching a beautiful light display of orbs as they floated around theirs beautiful colours blinking. I swear I at one point, it felt like I was out in a field surrounded by fire flies. Mingled in with the orbs you could hear the sounds of running water. Now remember, there is absolutely no running water in the building.

Then we found our way into the TB room and found more orbs floating around among the dust. This room was once home to folks who had gotten tuberculosis and were dying. I stood next to a window that was left open and was overcome with the feeling of depression and it literally felt like I was watching my life pass me by. One of the investigators said she saw someone standing by the window.

We left the prison at around 3am, we were tired as well as wired up. I remember looking back up at that window on the way out the gates and wondering if we were being watched. I could imagine a person standing in that window sadly waving at everyone as they left. This was one paranormal investigation I will never forget.

This group that I went with was a great team of serious investigators. There was no playing around or what not. No jokes played on each other, just serious investigating. I was blessed to be able to experience that and it is something that I will never forget.
